It was a lovely day here in Central Florida this Wednesday. Bright and sunny and chamber of commerce approved. Following lunch with family visiting from out of state, we toured the newly expanded Morse Museum in the quaint village of Winter Park. There we found breathtaking treasures created by Louis Comfort Tiffany, many of them inspired by just such a beautiful day.
It's one thing to see a Tiffany stained glass window mounted high above a church congregation in a well endowed cathedral. To see it up close and at eye level is a whole new experience.
Much like a collage artist, Tiffany sometimes layered different colors, textures, and styles of glass to create a desired effect. It is surprising to see how thick a seemingly flat window can be in some places. Viewed from the right angle, you can actually see a series of waves in the finished panel which might lead some to feel just a trifle seasick.
Still, each work of art tells its own story. Some literally portray stories of the Bible. Others give impressions of nature's delicate blossoms arrayed against a sky created hued with striated shades of blue. Hints of white, grey and gold help enforce the illusion that you can actually see the sky flicker as sun beams make contact with the blooms.
Also inspired by nature and a fresh take on Spring, is this striking Shades of Blue Glass Bead Necklace Set. Exclusively from AVON. Fashioned of burnished brass, it features a 17" L wire necklace and comes with a 3" extender and a matching pair of pierced faux stone ear studs. Just $9.99 for a limited time.
